Ankur Jain

Ankur Jain is currently a junior at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2007, Ankur Jain founded the Kairos Society, a student-run, not-for-profit foundation created to tap the power of undergraduate entrepreneurs to develop business innovations with global impact. Kairos has built a member base consisting of some of the brightest students from top universities around the world. Taking guidance from prominent business leaders and academics, these students are working together to use entrepreneurship and innovation to tackle some of today’s most daunting issues, including alternative energy, education, and health. Kairos members hold a common belief that they will ultimately Do Well by Doing Good.
Each year, Kairos holds a Global Summit where it brings together 500of its top members alongside a collection of the world’s most significant leaders for a major 2-day event in New York City to discuss the issues emerging opportunities where Kairos students can make a difference using their business skills. The result has been a significant number of successful technology-oriented projects, ranging from renewable energy to new low-cost nutritional products to on-line career planning services that are already reaching markets and generating new jobs around the world.

Ankur Jain’s Education

During his three years at the University of Pennsylvania, Ankur Jain has assembled a varied array of experience and accomplishments. Recently he was selected as one of eighty students (out of 1,800) to participate in the prestigious Singularity University Summer Program, an interdisciplinary program based at the NASA Ames campus in Silicon Valley whose mission is to assemble, educate and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies that address humanity’s grand challenges.

Ankur Jain’s Movie Production

His experience also extends to movie production. Recently he served as executive producer and orchestrated the first deal to sign a group of major Hollywood Producers, including Scott Mednick for the first major film to be based on a viral YouTube hit “My New Haircut.” The original video, which first appeared on YouTube in 2007, chronicles the adventures of a character dubbed Broski and his “Guido” lifestyle. To date, “My New Haircut” has received more than 30 million online views, over 130 fan pages and over 250 fan-inspired parodies.

Ankur Jain’s Experience

During his previous summer work experience, Ankur Jain has worked as an intern for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; spent a summer working in Hong Kong as an analyst for AEA Private Equity and worked in business development for Intelius, Inc., an online information commerce company based in Bellevue, Washington. Ankur Jain is also a founding board member of the Youth Legislative Advisory Council for the State of Washington, appointed by Governor Gregoire.

At the University of Pennsylvania, where he expects to graduate in 2011, Ankur Jain currently serves as an Innovation Found Board Member for the Weiss Technology House, a student-run center of technological innovation on campus that encourages and supports students in the creation, development and commercialization of innovative technologies.
