Keep Climbing in Q2

Onfido Charges Forward with $25mm Series B

Onfido (K50 ‘14) raised $25mm in Series B financing as it prepares to expand its background-checking platform to the US --- investors include Idinvest Partners, Wellington Partners, and Crunchfund.

Originally founded by Kairos fellows in the UK, the company has focused on steady international growth across the US, Europe, LatAm, and Asia.

Onfido already serves 1,000+ customers who have collectively run 10 million background checks. As more of the workforce shifts to an on-demand contractor model, Onfido offers companies a trusted way to quickly verify identity.

Kairos Berkeley Co-Founder Raises $6mm Fund

The House Fund is a $6mm fund designed to exclusively support and fund entrepreneurs from UC Berkeley. We’re especially proud because Jeremy co-founded the Kairos chapter at Berkeley, building a thriving peer community and investing in K50 companies including Lily and Eko Devices.

Digital Genius Raises $4.1mm to Bring Artificial Intelligence to Customer Service

Digital Genius (K50 ‘14) raised an additional $4.1mm of funding as they break new ground in leveraging artificial intelligence to modernize customer service. They also announced their newest product offering, which integrates their technology with Salesforce, Zendesk and Oracle.

Investors in this round include Salesforce Ventures and Bloomberg Beta, joining previous investors Lerer-Hippeau Ventures, Lowercase Capital, Metamorphic Ventures and RRE.

Co-founder and President Mikhail Naumov also presented this April at Ernst & Young's Innovation Realized, an invite-only retreat for Fortune 500 executives to discuss emerging trends and technologies. As part of Kairos’ partnership with EY, Digital Genius was offered 1 of 20 spots for breakout startups.

Kairos Society Co-Founders’ Company Acquired

Contact management platform Humin announced its acquisition by Tinder, the dating app owned by IAC’s the Match Group. Humin was launched in 2012 by several members of Kairos’ first leadership team, including Chairman Ankur Jain and co-founders David Wyler, Jake Medwell, Jonathan Shriftman, and Daniel Pourbaba.

Tinder acquired Humin’s IP, technology, and team, with plans of expanding its international product offering and expanding outside of dating. With their first startup journey under their belt, we’re excited to see what our alumni do next!
