50 WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR ALIBABA.COM’S ENTREPRENEUR ABROAD PROGRAM

Alibaba

Alibaba.com announced the 50 winners (see the full list below) of the Alibaba.com Entrepreneur Abroad Program. The program, offered this year exclusively for members of the Kairos Society, will sponsor 50 students who attended the Kairos Summit in New York City on April 16-17 to participate in a study abroad program in China. All students who attended the Summit were invited to submit their idea for a business that would source or export products globally. Alibaba.com selected 50 students based on the creativity and strength of their ideas for a business that relied on import or export of goods or services. The selected students will travel to China for a five-day program in September 2010 that includes three important activities:

A full day of coursework in international trade taught by educators and experts from around the world.

A global summit that will allow them to come face-to-face with business leaders in international trade, and understand how to evaluate international sourcing opportunities, and also to learn how exporters demonstrate their wares to the global market. This will help entrepreneurs make connections with fellow small business operators from around the world, enabling cultural and business idea exchanges for years to come.

An annual event that brings together Alibaba.com customers, employees and industry thought leaders for discussions of the major issues confronting small businesses globally and solutions for the new business environment in which global entrepreneurs are now operating.

Congratulations to all of the students!
